We  are very excited to have secured as our speaker Luke McCarron, Assistant Professor,

Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine at Bond University, Gold Coast.

Luke McCarron has published multiple peer reviewed journal articles as lead-author and co-author. He was also featured in IFSSH-Ezine November 2021 and February 2022 editions "Understanding the TFCC".

Luke is an Occupational Therapist with experience in hand therapy and academia. He has completed the Master of Science in Hand Therapy degree at the University of Derby, and is currently a PhD candidate at Griffith University studying rehabilitation following Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) foveal repair surgery. Luke is an Accredited Hand Therapist (as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA)) and Certified Hand Therapist, and has been the lead or co-author for numerous publications in the last five years. His current roles include Assistant Professor at Bond University, AHTA National Education Manager, and Research Assistant for the Australian Research Collaboration for Hands. Luke’s areas of interest for research include TFCC rehabilitation, research capacity and culture building, upper limb function, and hand and wrist surgery.

Physiotherapy Conference 2024 - Whakatere
6 to 8 September at Te Pae Convention Centre, Christchurch.

Hosted every two years Physiotherapy Conference is PNZ’s largest event for the profession, bringing together members, speakers, stakeholders, and sponsors from across Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas. Physiotherapy Conference 2024 will be held from 6 to 8 September at the new Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch. This includes a multi-day programme filled with various streams and session formats, workshops, an exhibition area, and social events.

The theme for Physiotherapy Conference 2024 is Whakatere, literally translated as the act of steering or navigating (a waka). This reflects our united knowledge and sharing at conference to navigate the physiotherapy profession forward. Overlapping topics of Equity Access Outcomes, Living Well Across the Lifespan, Mental Wellness / Whole Person, and Innovation in Practice will be highlighted and collectively reflected in the theme Whakatere.

    Abstract Submission Deadline      15 March 2024

 

 

The deadline to submit Abstracts for the IFSSH-IFSHT 2025 Triennial Congress, scheduled for March 24-28, 2025, in Washington, DC, USA of 15 March 2024 is fast approaching. Submit an abstract to share your expertise with an acclaimed group of international hand surgeons and hand therapists!

 

Read the important policies and guidelines and submit your Paper, ePoster and Instructional Course Lecture (therapist, only) proposals.

  • HTNZ Supervision Course   (via Zoom):
  • Part A:  2nd 1/2 of 2024 dates TBC
  • Part B:  2nd 1/2 of 2024 dates TBC
  • Registrants must attend the two days (Part A and Part B) of the Course.
  • The cost to attend will be notified soon.
  • Please note that this is being heavily subsidised by HTNZ. Each course is limited to a maximum of 24 people.
  • Please email admin(at)handtherapy.org.nz if you would like to secure a space on the next course. You will be sent an invoice, and your place confirmed on receipt of payment.

The Hand Therapy New Zealand Conference

 

  • The Hand Therapy New Zealand Conference is biennial, the next conference will be held in Auckland in 2025. Information will be posted as it becomes available.

NZ Society for Surgery of the Hand Meeting 2024

 

This year's NZ Society for Surgery of the Hand Meeting is being held at Shangri-La Yanuca Island in Fiji from 14th – 16th August 2024. 

The guest speakers are Professor Ho from the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong and Professor Tonkin from Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, both of whom share extensive experience and knowledge across a wide range of areas.

 

Accommodation is also being held at Shangri-La Yanuca Island.  Room types and rates can be viewed on the conference website, please follow the instructions on how to book your accommodation.  You are encouraged to book rooms asap as this is a busy time of the year and rooms will be subject to availability.

 

Call for Abstracts is open, the deadline for submitting these is by Friday 29th March 2024.
