23/06/2026 Physiotherapist Hand Therapy Pathway | Whangarei
Permanent | Full-time or Part-time | Hands On Rehabilitation
This is a rare opportunity: a fully supported pathway into hand therapy, in a specialist clinic that does this work every day.
At Hands On Rehabilitation, hand, wrist, and elbow rehab is all we do. We work closely with hand surgeons and referrers across Northland to help people get back to what matters: work, sport, family, daily life. Our outcomes are strong because our team is experienced, collaborative, and genuinely invested in developing the people around them.
We are looking for a physiotherapist who wants to build real expertise in upper limb rehab. You don’t need to be a hand therapist already. You need to be motivated, clinically curious, and ready to grow.
The Role
You’ll be assessing and treating hand, wrist, and elbow conditions, learning splinting and upper limb rehab pathways, and working alongside experienced hand therapists every day. As your confidence builds, so does your scope.
What We Offer
Training into a specialist field takes time and the right environment. We’ve built one:
• Hands-on supervision and mentoring from experienced hand therapists
• Postgraduate study support, including AUT papers covered
• Regular case discussions, professional development, and education time
• Close working relationships with hand surgeons: a genuine learning environment, not just a referral relationship
• An admin and leadership team that runs the business well so you can focus on clinical work
• Part of a larger group with shared resources and experienced colleagues across the network

Who We’re Looking For
• Registered Physiotherapist with a current APC
• A genuine interest in upper limb conditions (prior experience in hand therapy is not required)
• Good communicator who works well in a team
• Committed to patient outcomes
New graduates are welcome. If the specialty interests you and you’re ready to put in the work, we’ll provide the structure to help you get there.
Apply
Email with a CV and a short cover letter. Keep it brief: we want to know why upper limb rehab interests you and what you’re looking for in a role.
